Welcome to Our New Website!
Welcome to HSLDA Online Academy, formerly known as PHC Preparatory Academy! Here's a brief message about our name change from Mike Smith, President of HSLDA.
As you probably know, Patrick Henry College and HSLDA co-founded PHC Preparatory Academy in 2009 to provide online Advanced Placement® courses to homeschool and private school students.
HSLDA has overseen the program’s operations since its inception, and during this time many of you have asked if one day we might offer standard high school courses in addition to our outstanding AP® courses. I am excited to announce that we have heard your requests, and beginning next semester (Fall 2015), the Academy will begin offering two new 9th-grade level high school courses: Algebra 1 and English 1.
To make this happen, HSLDA and Patrick Henry College have agreed for HSLDA to take full ownership of the Academy. We have also chosen a new name that reflects this transition and the expansion of our program: HSLDA Online Academy.
In fact, I am thrilled to announce that we are also adding a new AP® course to our existing lineup this fall. Patrick Henry College’s outstanding history professor Douglas Favelo, PhD, has designed the new AP® European History course, which will be offered for the first time in Fall 2015.
HSLDA sees the importance of offering both high-quality, standard high school courses as well as our popular college preparatory courses. We hope you will consider making HSLDA Online Academy part of your high school program. Know that we have done everything possible to make these courses affordable—and remember to take advantage of the early registration discount and the HSLDA member discount!
Be looking for the announcement of early registration, which will begin in mid-March.
Wishing you great success with your high school program!
