Cherish Nelson
Classroom Teacher
MA, Houston Baptist University BA, Olivet Nazarene University
Cherish Nelson earned a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in Apologetics with an emphasis on cultural and literary apologetics. She is an adjunct professor of the humanities at Kankakee Community College, where she has taught courses on world religions and student success. She also teaches the bible and literary criticism to teens and young adults at her church.
She has a passion for using literature and the humanities to help people see virtue and beauty as embodied truth, not just abstract “church” concepts. The Magician’s Nephew is her favorite book because it gives us a glimpse of God’s deep love and care for us through the relationship between Aslan and Digory. She is excited to share this perspective with her students.
Cherish currently lives in Kankakee County, Illinois, with her husband where she has served and taught in youth ministry since 2009.
