BA, Patrick Henry College
AA, Univeristy of New Mexico

Jemima Spill earned an AA in Liberal Arts from the University of New Mexico and a BA in Literature from Patrick Henry College. She is now working on her MA in English at Northeastern.

As a homeschooled child of a wildlife biologist and a cattle rancher, Jemima grew up with a deep love of God’s creation. Possessing a natural poet’s soul, her love of creation quickly turned to a love of sub-creation, sending her deep into the shelves at her local library. Her childhood was shaped by the wide open spaces of northern New Mexico, the magic of fairy-stories, and her three older brothers’ quick wits. As a teenager,  she found where she fit into the world: as a beloved child of God who could teach others about Him through literature. Jemima is passionate about literature’s ability to inspire empathy by pointing readers to the imago Dei within every person.

Jemima lives in Boston and can be found taking long walks, watching rom-coms, cooking, singing in the car, listening to audiobooks, and shopping. Some of her favorite books are The Wind in the WillowsThe Four LovesThe Picture of Dorian GrayThe Well-Beloved, and The House of the Seven Gables.

Jemima has been teaching with the Academy since 2020.
