Katy Evans, High School Classroom TeacherClassroom Teacher

M.Ed., Western Governors University
B.A., Texas A&M University

Katy Evans earned her undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University and then taught high school English for almost a decade, primarily at a University Model School where she discovered the joy of allowing students to work in an environment that best works for their own unique learning styles, as well as allowing parents to more actively participate in their child’s education.

Welcoming the transition from strictly brick-and-mortar schools to models of education that embrace distance learning, Katy felt called to pursue a graduate degree focusing on Learning and Technology, a field that is full of exciting research about best practices in distance education. Regardless of the method of instruction, Katy believes that setting high expectations and providing engaging lessons result in students achieving so much when faced with challenging literature and writing assignments.

When not in the classroom, Katy directs plays and musicals for a local school and Christian organization. She loves to hang out with her husband and three kids, read, and volunteer with her children’s organizations and at church. She feels very blessed to be able to invest so much in the lives of her own children and students in the homeschool community!

2019 is her first year teaching with the Academy.
