Megan Bowman

Megan Bowman, High School Classroom Teacher for AP World HistoryClassroom Teacher

MA, George Mason University
BA, Appalachian State University

Megan Bowman earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies and Secondary Education from Appalachian State University and her Master’s of Education in Advanced Studies in Teaching and Learning, with a concentration in History, from George Mason University. For over 15 years, Megan has taught a wide range of 9th–12th grade Social Studies classes in a variety of settings—including public schools in Virginia, a homeschool cooperative, and HSLDA Online Academy. Her favorite topics to study include the ancient river valley civilizations, early church history, the American Civil War, and the Cold War. She looks forward to getting to know her students and facilitating fun and engaging classes.

Megan also grades AP World History exams for the College Board. These experiences have deepened both her understanding of the requirements for the DBQ and LEQ essays, and her ability to better prepare students for the AP Exam. Additionally, Megan has participated in workshops hosted by College Board for both AP European History and AP World History Modern to gain a richer understanding of how the courses are organized, and how to teach the historical thinking skills and content more effectively to students.

Megan lives in West Virginia with her husband and their three daughters. In her free time, she enjoys reading, running, hiking, playing guitar, baking, and spending time with family, friends, and her two dogs, Bella and Koda.

Megan has been teaching with the Academy since 2015.
