Megan Bowman earned her bachelor's degree in social studies and secondary education from Appalachian State University in 2006 and her master’s of education in Advanced Studies in Teaching and Learning, with a concentration in history, from George Mason University in 2009. She had the unique opportunity to study abroad for a summer term in 2004 at John Cabot University in Rome, Italy. She also worked as a historic interpretative intern with the National Park Service at Eisenhower National Historic Site in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in 2006. Over the past ten years, she has taught 9th–12th Grade Social Studies classes in Fairfax and Loudoun County Public Schools and HSLDA Online Academy, including AP® World History: Modern, AP® US History, and AP® European History.

Megan is very excited to be teaching again with HSLDA Online Academy this academic year. Teaching history for twelve years has led to a deeper love of history for Megan. Her favorite topics to study include ancient Greek and Roman history, early church history, the Reformation, the American Civil War, World Wars I & II, and the Cold War. She looks forward to getting to know her students and facilitating a fun and exciting European History class!

Megan lives in West Virginia with her husband Kevin and their three beautiful daughters Lizzy, Victoria, and Ally. In her free time, she enjoys reading, running, hiking, baking, and spending time with family, friends, and their beagle Bella.

Megan has been teaching with the Academy since 2015.
