M.Ed, University of North Texas
BA (English), BS (Psychology), Texas Christian University

Ruth Henderson grew up in Texas and attended Texas Christian University where she majored in English Literature and Psychology, going between reading books and completing brain surgery on rats. She then attended the University of North Texas, where she received her M.Ed, and where she met her husband, John, who is a counseling pastor.

Ruth has had the privilege of teaching reading and writing to multiple grades and ages, on topics as varied as worldview, writing basics and advanced exposition, literary analysis, and creative short stories. She has taught in private schools, in one-on-one tutoring, and in homeschool co-ops, including on her farm in Texas where the groups would leave English class to chase chickens and goats.

Presently, Ruth and John live in Fayetteville, Arkansas with their family of five children. She often stays up late reading young adult fiction or classics, depending on her mood, and trying to find the book that someone borrowed from her nightstand.

Ruth has been teaching with the Academy since 2020.
