How will winners be chosen?

The winners will be selected by the following rubric:

  • Student is eligible and submitted all proper files on time.
  • The video will be judged on the overall quality, presentation style, and content shared. Applicants are encouraged to have a clean, tidy background for the video. Videos that are 1 minute will be judged the same as videos that are 2 minutes.
  • The essay will be judged based on educational, professional, or spiritual growth, clarity of thought, and proper grammar and formatting. Proper formatting should be a double-spaced document using Times New Roman or other commonly accepted font.
  • The special achievement will be judged on uniqueness, originality, and excellence. References may or may not be checked.
  • Additional determining factors to help differentiate finalists include HSLDA Online Academy performance, assignment submission, information shared by instructors, and other student information stored by the Academy.
  • Please read the rubric for full information.

The $1,000, $500, and $100 scholarships will be paid out to a post secondary institution in the United States in the summer before enrollment or to a qualifying 529 Plan.
