Kristen Slone
Kristen Slone earned her undergraduate degree in secondary English education at Ball State University and her graduate degree in curriculum and instruction at Indiana Wesleyan University. She taught all levels of public high school English/Language Arts for twelve years before becoming a part-time composition instructor for both Purdue Polytechnic and Anderson University.
Some of the most memorable experiences she had as a high school English teacher involved helping students realize their potential as readers and writers, and facilitating that growth throughout the school year. She also enjoyed her time as the school’s academic team coach and as a team teacher for the freshman academy.
Kristen and her husband have three daughters. In 2015, when their oldest turned five, they prayerfully decided to homeschool. This calling has been the best decision and biggest blessing for their family. In her spare time, Kristen and her husband stay busy renovating their late-1800s farmhouse, gardening, preserving food, and serving in their church.
Kristen has been teaching with the Academy since 2019.
