Leigh Ann Scott, English teacher at HSLDA Online Academy

Leigh Ann Scott

Master Teacher

Leigh Ann Scott earned her associate’s degree in social science and her bachelor’s degree in middle grade education with an emphasis on English/language arts and social studies from Lindsey Wilson College. From there, she went on to earn a master’s degree from Walden University in curriculum, instruction, and assessment and another master’s degree from Georgetown College in school improvement, with an endorsement in gifted and talented services. She has taught language arts to students in grades five through eight, and sixth grade social studies, as well as worked as an intervention teacher and with gifted and talented students.

Leigh Ann is passionate about teaching English due to her love of reading. She enjoys reading both fiction and nonfiction books, and believes that, through good literature, students learn strong writing skills. Leigh Ann is also a published author and continues to write regularly.

A few years ago, she began homeschooling her four children and has loved the experience. She recently stepped away from public school teaching to be home full time with her children, where she can focus more on her family and her writing.

Leigh Ann has been teaching at the Academy since 2024.
