Heidi Jones
Classroom TeacherMA, George Mason University Heidi Jones majored in Spanish Language and Literature at WWU, completing her BA via study abroad in Costa Rica. Originally from Seattle, Washington, Heidi discovered her passion for Spanish in high school on a local mission trip working with Spanish-speaking migrant workers. This also instilled in her a heart for “the sojourner” (Deuteronomy 10:18-19). She went on to study at Capernwray Bible School in the UK, where she met her British husband of more than a decade. Once stateside again, Heidi used her proficiency in Spanish to assist K-6th grade English Learners (ELs) bilingually. After getting married and moving to Liverpool, England, Heidi was able to maintain her Spanish through a Spanish-speaking Bible study and several mission trips to Spain, thanks be to God! Heidi and her husband then returned to the US so he could attend seminary and work at a local church in Northern Virginia, where they currently live. Naturally, Heidi was thrilled to continue to teach ELs bilingually with Fairfax County Public Schools. She has since resigned to work part-time and be home with her young daughter and son. She also enjoys teaching adult Spanish classes in the evenings. Heidi has been teaching for the Academy since 2019. |
