Ed lives in the Cincinnati, Ohio, area with his family and has been teaching at the Academy since 2018. He also teaches Chemistry full time at a local high school. HSLDA Online Academy: What’s a typical Saturday night like for you?
Ed Gomes: We live only 5 minutes from my wife’s family so every Saturday night we have dinner with them.
HSLDA Online Academy: What are your must have smartphone apps?
Ed Gomes: I’m terrible at directions, so Google Maps is essential for my survival.
HSLDA Online Academy: What can you cook to perfection? Are you willing to share the recipe?
Ed Gomes: Nothing. I’m terrible at cooking, and honestly, I hate it. My wife does almost all the cooking. On occasion, I’ll put leftovers in a pot and mix them up. I call it “man grub.” My kids always tell me it looks gross and I always tell them it’s delicious. They’re never willing to try it, though.
HSLDA Online Academy: If you won the lottery and decided to give up teaching, what would you do instead?
Ed Gomes: I’d find a local missions opportunity to give myself to in some way.
HSLDA Online Academy: If you could pass on any wisdom to your students, what would you share?
Ed Gomes: The purpose of life is the first commandment. When I make decisions with the first commandment in view (e.g., how will this decision affect my relationship with the Lord?), I have the most joy in the long run with how my life turns out, even when things are difficult.
